Photo diary: Berlin, Germany

Checking out the Memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe
So, here comes the last but for sure not least photo diary I still had to share since October.
My best friend and I were spending amazing 4 days in the great, urban city of Berlin. It’s been an extension for the both of us. I believe we both saw a new way of life, less hectic than in Switzerland. With many people around us, many different people. People who are so friendly they could talk to a stranger for hours.

What I personally missed: Architecture. Coming from Budapest to Berlin, the architecture in the city is just no big deal. Of course, there are some breathtaking buildings but especially around Berlin there are many graffitis or blocks which reminded me a lot of the Sowjet union. Nonetheless, I personally loved the museum island. And the museum of photography/Helmut Newton museum featuring some sick photographs from him and other photographers. The historical museum with its ancient objects is breathtaking. The museums are huge and worth every penny, trust me (plus: the’re free of charge for teenagers under 18!).
However, my personal highlight was most definitely the Berlin wall. It’s such a strong historical piece, embellished with art from different artists which is trying to tell us a story. I could have spent hours just walking by and figuring out the different paintings.

Shopping is simply crazy in Berlin. Though we didn’t want to spend a lot of time in the shops as our target was to see as much as possible from the city, we ended up going to Primark and MAC and bought some pieces there. One can find the cutest little cafes that exsist – there are some really cool places around the Alexander square. And a KFC, man. Athough I’m no big fan of fast food, KFC is just woah, I love it. The general prices in Berlin are low (for Swiss standards), however higher than in Budapest.
As we were only the two of us, not knowing anybody we usually stayed at the hotel (andel’s), went to the bar (sky bar at the andel’s hotel – a great view from the 14th floor with amazing interior), whirlpool or sauna. Just tried to relax because we walked a lot during the day.
I cannot wait going to Berlin once again. There’s such a different vibe
when it comes to culutre, fashion – everything basically. Berlin is
special. The lifestyle is so much different than what I’m used to. And I cannot wait to experience it once again – until sometime soon, Berlin.
The Berlin Dome – such a beautiful church. Breathtaking in its size and architecture.
