Photo diary: New York & Atlantic city (New Jersey)

In the first part of my photo diary I showed you my top three places in the big apple. However, there’s a lot more places I loved seeing within New York which could be of interest to some of you.

Soho Manhattan Flatiron buildingMore interesting spots in New York City?

Soho in Manhattan was for me the most amazing part of whole New York. The cast iron buildings and colourful houses will make hearts of architecture lovers melt. It’s a place where you’ll find nearly all big luxury brands such as Chanel or Prada as well as other boutiques. Very interesting spot which has a very special vibe. Something else you have to see when in New York (and as  a fan of architecture) is the Flatiron Building. Skyline NYC, Washington Square ArchWhen it comes to buildings and architecture New York has a lot of different things to offer. The New York Public Library, One World Trade Centre (& Oculus & Ground Zero) or Grand Central Terminal are worth seeing because of their stunning construction. New York Public Library, One World Trade CenterThe Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island is a landmark of the city. However, it’s crowded with people and you won’t see much more from the Statue than what you see from the boat. Liberty Island is not worth your time in my opinion. I would rather go on a cruise than staying on the island itself. Using the Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and you get to see the beautiful skyline by not even paying a Penny. Of course, Times Square cannot be missing when it comes to New York. There’s the broadway, lots of shops, fast food chains and theatres. As a place of entertainment, seeing a musical is a must. Crowds of people, a lot of tourists, many lights and billboards. Then again, there’s the Wall Street. Some of you might know I’m a student of business administration so it was a must to go to the Wall Street to see the New York Stock Exchange and Charging Bull. Times Squre, New York Stock Exchange

Travelling alone can be frightening, however, it’s the most amazing experience you’ll ever make. Since you’re alone you need to take care of yourself, plan your days, get the city maps, talk to people. At the end of the day you’ll feel proud of what you achieved through the day and how you got along. It’s pushing your self-confidence and your personal capability. I’m sure I’ll be off to another adventure all by myself soon again and I cannot wait for it.

Another place I visited was Atlantic city.

View on Atlantic City (NJ) from Steel Pier, BoardwalkAtlantic City is located in the State of New Jersey, approximately 200km from NY. It’s famous for its casinos, beach and boardwalk. There’s the Steel Pier and if you want to see the „real“ American food (read: burgers, chicken wings, deep fried oreos etc) the boardwalk is your place to be.  However, you can feel how Atlantic city is „falling apart“ somehow. There’s a lot of bankrupt casinos and closed hotels. Nonetheless, I loved seeing this place.

My blog at chenmeicai blogspot com – I didn’t put the link as my comment may get auto-deleted again hehe.
